Downtown Master Plan & Streetscape Improvements

Hopkinsville, KY

 

The Renaissance Area Master Plan addressed improvements for governmental office, commercial expansion, vehicular and pedestrian circulation, parking, housing and green space. The intimate scale of Downtown allowed the creation of a pedestrian center, reducing vehicular congestion and producing a safer and more attractive environment. The Renaissance Area Master Plan also included the design and construction documents for 9^th and 7^th Street Streetscape improvements and the Little River Park improvements. Special attention was concentrated on developing the 7^th/9^th street bridge environs as a gateway to downtown Hopkinsville.

 

The objectives of the plan are:

· Creating a new gateway to downtown

· Providing a unified corridor with guidelines for architectural & streetscape improvements

· Promoting revitalization of downtown by creating a greater mix of activities.

· Realigning Downtown with the river and focusing on its importance and protection.
